Island Coffee Haus is the dream come to life of co-owner Beverly Lesnick. We are the Island’s best little coffee house with a full selection of coffee, teas and light meals.
What do mermaids and coffee have to do with each other? You may not think much but then of course we are on a island and practically everything has to do with the ocean. We opened this shop on November 17, 2012 with the vision of a local coffee house that was needed in Holmes Beach. We wanted it to have a welcoming and comfortable environment. A place where locals and visitors could come in, relax and visit with neighbors and friends.
M.J. Lesnick had been a island visitor for 12 years, I had lived in Tampa during this period, but the place where I got the coffee bug was during my stay in the Azores, where young Matthew was also born. Once returning to the states I continued to look for any place I could fulfill that same taste and experience. I worked opening up two licensed Starbucks stores in Tampa and finishing up working for the Embassy Suites Downtown Tampa, where I have to say they gave me my most valuable experience. In August 2012 I gave up my corporate job and moved to Anna Maria to set the wheels in motion.
Not only did I bring to the island my experience and love of coffee, but also my young son who works along side me with Grandma MJ every now and then. We also have Great Great Grandmother Lesnick’s story as well to tie this altogether. You can read our story on the website as well. We have turned this family story into our logo where you can come in and see the dress displayed.
We have available all the espresso drinks, which can be either hot or iced. We also do a wide assortment of blended ice drinks and smoothies for those hot humid days here at the beach. The pastries we carry are either baked in house or purchased locally from Hometown Desserts on Pine Avenue.
I love this business it offers me the opportunity to share my love of coffee and meet and talk with people from around the world. Because of the generosity and love of this island that Matthew’s Grandma MJ has, it has made it possible for me to fulfill two of my dreams; owning a coffee shop and living by the water.
I hope you have the opportunity to stop in and visit awhile as you sip on the wonderful coffee and pasties we have available. We also have free wi-fi, comfy decor, with a casual & friendly atmosphere.
